Deathbed & Breakfast

Richard Forester, a retired CEO for a major software company, and his granddaughter Penny show up at the Pookotz Bed & Breakfast one evening and find themselves in some rather unpleasant company. All the guests somehow seem to be connected to Richard’s past and when he is found dead the next morning, everyone is suspect. However, there are a few wrinkles that the inn’s owners Edna and Mildred Pookotz need to iron out as the investigation unfolds. Not only was Richard deathly ill, but he was also accused of embezzling $750,000 which is still unaccounted for. The local Sheriff suspects that this victim’s death is not a natural one, so he--and the sisters--set forth to discover who the murderer is.

Bryndis Palmer, owner of The Neglected Word bookstore, invites her fourteen-year-old niece Frida to visit her so that the Jane Austen-loving young girl can accompany her to a book convention being held in St. Louis.  Bryn just broke up with her boyfriend Holt Furst, who has suddenly disappeared. Bryn dutifully heads to the airport to pick up Frida, only to discover that Frida has also disappeared.  Bryn barges ahead with her own investigation, certain that the local police and the airport authorities will bungle the job. Along the way, she discovers that she herself is somehow at the center of it all, and swirling around her are other strange curiosities––a missing Bible, a famous frontier hero, and a hidden secret code. Will she find Frida? And Holt? How does it all connect? It is all revealed in "Chasing The Codex".
